Leave Benchmarking Survey: Disability Leave Infographic

In March, IBI surveyed more than 400 employers about their Disability Leave Benefits. Respondents were instructed to focus on the nature of the ADA accommodation, an evaluation of the review process, resources committed to administering the claim, and the impact on the organization of approving a claim.

Highlights from the survey include: 

- 72% of employers made communication/workstation accommodations in the last 5 years.

- The top 3 challenges concerning ADA provisions are the cost of implementing accommodations, the need for judgement in defining applicability of the ADA, and confusion and overlap with other leave programs. 

- 21% of employers outside some or all functions of ADA to a leave/disability administrator. The top reason employers opt for external administrators is the complexity of ADA compliance.
